What the centreline means
The centreline is the track followed by the center of the Moon's umbra. Totality is longest close to it and becomes shorter toward either path limit.
In the western Morocco dataset, Tangier, M'diq and nearby sites receive roughly 4 minutes 50 seconds, showing that travelers have a broad useful zone rather than one mandatory point.
Why not chase one extra second
Local cloud, an obstructed horizon, unsafe parking or a late arrival can erase the benefit of a mathematically perfect coordinate. Use the centreline to understand duration, then choose a site on practical evidence.
Near the southern edge
Oujda and several other southern-limit locations change rapidly over short distances. Exact coordinates and lunar-limb assumptions matter more there, so move farther inside the path before selecting a viewing site.
